Introduction to Biology, Scientific Method, and Graphing

Introduction to Biology, Scientific Method, and Graphing Objectives

Intro to Life
List in order from smallest to largest the levels of organization.
                Also describe each level.
List in order from smallest to largest the levels of classification.
                Also define each level.
List and describe the characteristics that identify if something is living or non-living.

Scientific Method
Compare and Contrast inductive and deductive reasoning
Describe why the Scientific Method is used.
List the steps of the Scientific Method
Evaluate the Scientific Method process of Scientific scenarios
Compare and Contrast independent and dependent variables.
Compare and Contrast controlled variables, control group, and experimental group.
Compare and Contrast quantitative and qualitative data.
Define bias and its significance in experimental data and research.
List in order from smallest to largest the levels of organization.
List in order from smallest to largest the levels of classification.
List and describe the characteristics that identify if something is living or non-living

Graphing
1.Compare and contrast variables; specifically, independent and dependent variables.
2.Identify the independent and dependent variables in a table.
3.Compare and contrast three different types of graphs – line, bar, and pie.
4.Build a graph with the correct labels and keys using a data table. Make sure to place the independent and dependent variables on the correct axis.
5.Create a data table using the information taken from a graph.
